Alexandra, I think both versions are perfect! Thank you for sharing with us. I like the way you shaded the lower leaf darker than the upper leaf. Was that intentional? I also had 2 leaves in my drawing, but it never occurred to me to shade them differently. 🤔 Thanks for the idea!

I decided to add colour to it but still struggle with the shading
Mateo-I also feel that I struggle with the shading! But I think the addition of color in your drawing looks great! The black caps on your brown acorns gives the perfect contrast! Great job!
Hollie, I’m so happy to hear that you loved the experience! We hope you will join us again in November, and December, and beyond! 😉 Thank you for sharing your sketch with us. I love the shading on your acorns-you captured the lighting on them perfectly!
Beth-dare I say…better than “reasonable!” Your sketch is great! The detail you included in the caps of your acorns and the shading of the acorn itself brings them to life. Great work!
Hilary-I’m so happy to hear that you found the class peaceful and relaxing 🙂 I have to agree. It’s the perfect way to start the day in my opinion. Thank you for sharing your drawing with us. I love it when color is added (I’m not always brave enough to venture into the world of colored pencil)-did you use different shades of brown in your acorns or simply shade darker on the outer edges to get the shadow effect?

Shivani and Shay,
thank you for another wonderful drawing session. It’s always the highlight of my monthly Sunday experience. 🙂
Patty-we are so happy that you enjoyed the session 😊 I have to say, I love love love the colors you selected for your sketch! The subtle shading of red/orange on the tips of the leaves truly brings in the taste of fall! What a nice touch!
I truly enjoy the opportunity to engage with everyone after the sessions-it’s a great way to interact, enjoy each other’s art, and spread some kindness too ❤️

Always a relaxing experience with no pressure. I find my best work is done or finished when joining these sessions. Hope you will do them more often in the future!
I’m with you, DeEnna-I don’t really consider myself an artist, but I do my best work in these sessions because there is no pressure and it is so relaxing! Thank you so much for sharing your sketch with us. You did an amazing job with it. Do you know what jumped out at me when I looked at your picture? The 3D effect with your acorn transitioned to the cap-it looks so realistic!
And that, Katy, is the ultimate goal-RELAXATION! And you created a beautiful sketch while relaxing-what more could we ask for? I love the details you added in your leaf-it almost lends a sense of elegance to it! Beautiful touch!
I’m so glad you found today’s session helpful and calming, Colleen! Your sketch has a calming presence to it as well-the shading on the acorns is so smooth and effectively brings in the shadowing/lighting effect on them, just as Shivani described (I struggle with shading, so I’m always looking for ideas of how I can improve).
Lisa, thank you for sharing your sketch today! The highlights in the center of your acorns look amazing-were you able to accomplish that just by shading the outer edges darker?
Mica-I also love the “Let’s Fall” and I love the addition of the shadow on the outside of your acorns! I hadn’t even considered that, but it’s perfect!
llanray-this is stunning! This may seem like an unusual aspect to “favorite” in your sketch, but I love the tiny little stems where the acorns have already fallen off. That is such a nice detail that I never considered adding to my drawing but adds such depth to your piece!
It was a nice session, wasn’t it!? I love the details you added to your acorn caps and the shading on the acorns themselves. I really like the acorn that is partially hidden behind the branch. You did a great job, Niki!
I’m so glad you enjoyed the hour and hope you will join us next time! You did a beautiful job with your sketch. I love the highlights on your acorns!
Ich freue mich sehr, dass dir die Stunde gefallen hat und hoffe, dass du beim nächsten Mal wieder dabei bist! Deine Skizze ist wunderschön. Ich liebe die Highlights auf deinen Eicheln!
Thank you for sharing, Nanda! Your sketch is incredible-I love the long branch and find the falling leaf and acorn that you have in the middle of the branch especially intriguing! What a great touch!
Very nice, Martin! Thank you for sharing. I love the addition of color-especially considering that you used different colors for the acorn caps. The highlights on your acorns are also a really nice touch.

My second time but in many months – I hope to attend more regularly in future. I don’t draw so its so great to follow along and have all the steps broken down – thank you so much. I don’t know how to stop making messy smudges!
Thank you so much for joining us today, Helen! I also hope you attend the session regularly in the future 😊 I’ve never been one for drawing, so when I started with Shivani’s session almost 2 years ago, I also appreciated the breakdown of the step-by-step process. It’s so helpful! I still get smudges, but I go back and erase them. I think you have done an amazing job with your acorn and leaves! The details and the shading are perfect!
I’m so glad you had fun, Stacia! You and I seem to have had a similar vision in mind for our final sketch, though I think you mastered the scale of the leaves and the acorns far better than I was able to achieve-way to go! I love your work ❤️
Very nice, Janice! I love that you included some of the acorns having fallen from the tree! A typical fall scene…what a great idea!

Thank you so much Shivani and Shay for organizing this session!
As always, it was enjoyable 🙂
The wonky internet connection made it slightly hard to follow along later so I used gouache paints instead of pencil shading.
Hope to see you all soon in the next one! Take care 💙
Chandni-I’m so happy you attended today’s session and look forward to seeing you again in November! All I can say is WOW! Your painting is amazing. I have never used gouache paints-are they difficult to work with?
Thank you Shay! Me, too! Gouache paints are super forgiving in my experience. They’re water soluble which makes them quite convenient. I would encourage you to give them a try sometime! 🙂

Thanks for another great session! Last time, I played it safe and stuck to the prompt. This time, I decided to get a little adventurous and add a skunk. They’re opportunistic omnivores and do eat acorns, although I don’t know if they can climb high enough to pick them off the tree.
See-I learned something new today too! I did not know that skunks would eat acorns! I imagine if hungry enough, they would find a way to climb high enough to pick them off the tree…or maybe they are smart enough to just wait until they fall to the ground! What a creative addition to your sketch today. I love it when people add their own touch to the drawings-so many creative ideas out there and I find myself inspired by them! Nice work, Marcus!
Picking them up off the ground sounds likely, but if they’re smart enough to break into our garages, maybe they’re smart enough grab the ladder 😆
Thanks for the compliment, Shay!
LOL maybe so! 😉 Thankfully, skunks breaking into garages is not much of a problem where I live-just the random squirrel here and there, but if my ladder happens to disappear, I’ll know who to look for!

Oh, Sheala, I’m so glad you shared today! Your sketch is beautiful! The acorns look so realistic with the gradient shading. I love the texture in the caps! Very nice work!
Can’t wait to see everyone on October 5th!
hard to relax because of instability though
but much fun despite of that
Version 2.0 😉 after working on the formerly forgotten caps 😜

Fun and relaxing. I haven’t drawn in like 52 years but I can follow you and produce reasonable looking pictures. Thanks.
