This is always a very relaxing and peaceful session. I can just get lost in my drawing and listen to the positive comments.
Fabulous work, Makayla! The line between the white body and the darker wing area appears so natural on your sketch-I love it! (mine clearly did not turn out looking quite as natural!)
Marina, I’m so glad this was your first Brushtime session and that it felt relaxing. And yes, it absolutely looks like a penguin! I love the gentle curve of the body and how calm and steady your penguin feels standing there. You gave it such a quiet, peaceful presence. Thank you for being part of our anniversary session, I hope this is the first of many drawings with us.
Angela, that sounds like the best possible outcome. Your penguin has such a relaxed, unhurried feel to it, especially in the way it’s standing so comfortably on the ground. I love the soft shading along the body. I’m glad this gave you a chance to unwind, and you definitely earned that nap.
Beth, I’m so glad you found it relaxing. I really like how grounded your penguin feels, especially the way the feet are placed on the ice and hiding behind the rocks. My poor penguin’s feet wound up looking like flippers! I have learned something from your penguin, who has a calm, steady presence. Thanks for being part of today’s session.
Luda, thank you for being part of today’s session. Your penguin is lovely, especially the soft blending in the body and the small touch of color near the eye. It gives the drawing so much warmth and life. I’m glad you enjoyed the time together, and we’re grateful to have you with us.
Heike, I love that reaction. You really did draw a penguin, and a beautiful one at that. The tall posture and clean outline give it such a confident, elegant feel, and the textured ground adds a nice sense of place. I’m so glad you enjoyed the session and surprised yourself today.
Jenny, I’m so glad you had fun with it. Your penguin feels really balanced and well proportioned, and I love how you handled the shading on the body and wings. The rocks along the ground add a nice sense of depth too. Thank you for drawing with us today.

Judith, I’m so glad the session felt relaxing for you. Your penguin has a very gentle, peaceful quality, especially in the soft shading and the way it’s standing so quietly on the ground. It feels unhurried and steady. Thank you for spending this time drawing with us.
Chris, thank you for being part of today’s session. I really admire that you took the time to work on the feet; they can be so tricky. They give your penguin a strong sense of balance and realism. The subtle touches of color around the face also add a lot of character. Beautiful work, and thank you for drawing with us today.
Cristina, thank you for drawing with us today. I really love the bold contrast in your penguin, especially the textured water behind it. That background adds so much movement and makes the penguin stand out beautifully. It feels confident and well anchored in its space. What were you drawing with today-obviously some form of ink/marker…?
Michelle, he really did turn out great. I love the softness in the shading and the calm way your penguin is standing, it feels very natural and unforced. You applied the tips beautifully without overworking it. Thank you for drawing with us today.

Thanks for this session! I’m always happy to learn how to draw a new kind of animal. A penguin seemed to be a perfect opportunity to try out my charcoal pencils that I bought forever ago. As you can see, I’m not quite comfortable with the medium yet, but I’m glad I challenged myself and tried something new.
Marcus, I really appreciate you sharing this. Trying a new medium can feel uncomfortable at first, and I’m glad you gave yourself permission to experiment with the charcoal today. It adds such a rich depth to your penguin, especially in the darker areas, and you can already see it starting to come alive. Thank you for challenging yourself and drawing with us. To be honest-I have not touched my charcoal pencils either (they came with my set and they have sat there forever)…I’m a bit intimidated…so you may have inspired me to give them a chance!

My little chonky penguin
Melissa, I love your little chonky penguin! The round belly gives it so much charm, and it looks like you had fun letting it be exactly what it wanted to be. Thanks for sharing and drawing with us today.
