Patty, this turned out beautifully. There’s something so calming about the way your lines flow outward so naturally, and that center really draws the eye in. It feels delicate but confident at the same time. I’m so glad you enjoyed the process because it really shows in your work.
Olena, this has such a soft and peaceful feeling to it. The light pencil work gives it a really gentle, almost airy quality, and I love how the lines radiate so smoothly from the center. There’s a quiet focus in this piece that feels very calming to look at. Beautiful work.
Nancy, these are so lovely. I really like how you chose to draw two feathers. It gives the page such a balanced and thoughtful feel. The color in the centers stands out beautifully, and the softness of your lines around them keeps everything feeling light and relaxed. You can really feel the calm in this piece.
Beth, there’s something really elegant about this. The lightness of your lines and the way the feather gently curves down the page makes it feel very natural and unforced. That center detail is subtle but draws you in in a quiet way. It feels like you really let yourself slow down and just follow the movement.
James, I love hearing that this felt relaxing for you, and your drawing really reflects that experience. There’s a nice freedom in the way your lines move outward, like you let your hand just flow without overthinking it. The color in the center stands out in such a strong, grounded way, which gives the whole piece a calm focal point. It feels like you found a good rhythm here and just settled into it.

It would be pleasant to have return, thank you very much
Raynaud, I’m really glad this felt like something you would want to return to. That sense of ease shows in your drawing. The way you built up the center with those soft, layered lines creates a really natural depth, and your feather has a beautiful sense of movement. It feels like you gave yourself time to settle into it and just let the marks develop gradually. This is such a thoughtful and calming piece.
Alejandra, I love that this continues to be a space you enjoy coming back to. That comfort and familiarity really shows in your drawing. Your lines feel steady and intentional, and there’s a nice openness to the feather that gives it a relaxed, flowing feel. The center has a soft depth that gently pulls you in without feeling heavy. It feels like you settled into the process and let it unfold naturally, which is exactly what this time is meant to be.
Steff, the color in this is so beautiful. That center really stands out and gives the whole feather a sense of life. I also love how loose and flowing your lines are, especially toward the bottom. It feels like you let yourself relax into it and not worry about making everything perfect, which is exactly where that calm feeling comes from.
Janet, this feels really centered and steady. The way everything radiates out from the middle gives it a calm, grounded energy. It looks like you found a rhythm and just stayed with it, which is such a nice place to be.
Malcolm, there’s a really nice quiet focus in this. The center has a lot of depth, and the lighter lines around it feel relaxed and unforced. It looks like you gave yourself space to slow down and just build it gradually, which really comes through.

Lovely session! I’m away from home and only had an iffy, half sharpened pencil so I’m not totally happy with my drawing, but it was still fun to do 🙂
Rosie, I’m really glad you still gave yourself the time to do this, even without your usual setup. That matters more than anything. There’s actually a lot of character in your lines, especially in the lower part of the feather where they feel a bit more expressive and free. It feels like you stayed with the experience instead of worrying about the outcome, and that’s exactly where the decompression happens.
Luda, this is so lovely. The color in the center really brings it to life, and I like how soft and feathery your lines feel around it. It has a very calm, settled energy. It looks like you let yourself slow down and enjoy the process, and that’s exactly what these moments are for.
Jen, I’m so glad you joined for your first session. This is beautiful! The color in your feather really stands out, and I love how your lines flow so naturally down the page. It feels like you were able to settle into it and just enjoy the moment, which is exactly what we hope for. I hope we see you again.
Dragonfly, I’m really glad you shared this, and I’m even more glad you had fun with it. That’s the part that matters most. Personally, I think you did a fabulous job! There’s something really gentle and calming about your color choices in the center, and the way your lines fade out softly gives it a very relaxed feel. This looks like a moment where you let yourself just sit with it, and that’s exactly what this time is meant for.
Katy, this has such a smooth, flowing feel to it. The way your lines move outward feels really natural, almost like they’re unfolding on their own. I especially like the contrast between the darker center and the lighter lines around it. It feels calm without trying too hard, which makes it really enjoyable to look at.
Christine, I’m so glad this gave you a relaxing moment. Your feather has a really light, open feel to it, especially in those long, sweeping lines. The soft color in the center adds just enough focus without taking away from that sense of ease. It feels gentle and unhurried.
Jean, this has such a nice contrast to it. The darker center really grounds the piece, while the lighter lines around it keep everything feeling loose and open. There’s a nice sense of movement in the feather, especially as it stretches upward. It feels calming in a really good way.
Sharon, this one really stands out. There’s a beautiful balance between the darker, more detailed center and those long, sweeping lines that open up the feather. It feels expressive and a little more bold, while still keeping that sense of calm. You can tell you were really engaged with it as you went.
Sandra, that color combination is really striking. The blue and gold in the center immediately draws your eye, and the lighter lines around it give it room to breathe. It has a nice sense of contrast without feeling heavy. It looks like you just let yourself enjoy adding the color, and it really paid off.
Hello, I did mine digitally, I hope that’s alright :). I tried to go for a stylized, comic-book-esque look. I really wanted to capture the general aesthetic of the feather rather than the specifics.
Arsalan, I’m really glad you shared this. Going digital works perfectly here, and I love the direction you took. The stylized, comic-inspired lines give it a lot of personality, and you absolutely captured the overall feel of the feather without getting stuck in the details. There’s a nice confidence in those bold strokes. It feels like you trusted your own interpretation, which is a big part of making this kind of time feel freeing.
Jasmine, there’s something really soft and thoughtful about this. The way you shaded the center gives it a quiet depth, and the lines around it feel light and easy. It has a calm, reflective feel to it, like you took your time and just moved through it at your own pace.
Mona, I’m really glad you shared this, especially after how you felt about it in the zoom chat. There’s so much to appreciate here. The gold adds such a beautiful warmth and energy, it almost catches the light and gives the feather a sense of movement. Paired with the blues and greens, it feels vibrant and alive. It may not feel like what you had in mind, but there’s a lot of personality in this piece, and it definitely has its own kind of beauty.
Inga, I love how rich this feels. That golden center really stands out, and the blue gives it such a strong focal point. The strokes around it have a nice energy, almost like the feather is opening up as you move outward. It feels expressive and full, while still keeping that relaxed, enjoyable feel you mentioned.
Azuna, this is so full of life. The colors are bold and playful, and I love that you chose to do two feathers with such different personalities. It feels expressive and energetic in the best way. You can tell you were really enjoying yourself with this one, and that joy comes through clearly.
Jen, this has such a clean, calming feel to it. The symmetry of your lines gives it a really steady, almost meditative quality, and that bright blue center adds just the right amount of focus. It feels simple in a very peaceful way.

it was a lovely, mindful Sunday afternoon, i don’t think i’ve ever looked at a peacock feather this intently, nor have i tried being this gentle with holding a pencil against a piece of paper, thank you for hosting us.
Ying, this is so beautifully said. That shift you described, really looking closely and handling the pencil more gently, is such a meaningful part of the experience. It’s not just about the drawing, it’s about that change in pace and attention. I’m really glad you had that kind of afternoon with us.

Also, Miranda Priestly’s voice in your head made me laugh out loud😄
Chandni, I love this. Your feather has such a light touch to it, especially in those long, delicate lines that taper outward. The center feels softly layered without being heavy. And I’m so glad you had fun with the Miranda Priestly moment too, that made me smile reading it.
Fasi, this has such a rich, full look to it. The darker tones in the center give it a strong presence, and those fine lines radiating out feel really alive. It has a nice energy without feeling rushed. I’m glad this was a fun one for you.

There’s a softness in your color choices that feels really true to the feather, and the light lines around it keep everything feeling easy and open. It sounds like you really enjoyed working with the colors, and that comes through.
Veronica, I love this idea. Adding the fish and turning it into a little underwater scene is such a creative twist. It gives the whole piece a playful, imaginative feel. It looks like you had fun with it and made it your own, which is such a great way to approach these sessions.
Anu, this is so full of detail and personality. I love the added elements around the feather, it feels like you turned it into your own little scene rather than just a study. The greens are vibrant, and the center really draws you in. It has such a thoughtful, expressive feel to it.
Marshall, there’s a lot of texture in this, especially in the upper part of the feather. Those repeated strokes give it a really full, almost velvety look. The center feels strong and grounded, which balances it nicely. It has a quiet intensity that’s really interesting to sit with.
Jan, these feel so cheerful. The two feathers together give it a nice sense of connection, and the colors are bright without being overwhelming. There’s something very lighthearted about this, like you just enjoyed the time and let it be what it was.

Thank you for the great session, it’s my first time here ☺️
Peter, welcome, I’m really glad you joined us. This has a nice clarity to it, especially in the way you built up the center with those layered shapes. The lines around it feel light and natural, which gives the whole piece a relaxed feel. A great first session.
Kamilla, this has such a soft, flowing feel to it. The lines move really naturally, and the shading in the center creates a nice sense of depth without feeling heavy. I’m so glad this felt relaxing for you. It really comes through in the way the feather gently opens up across the page.
Liz, I love seeing both versions side by side. There’s something really satisfying about that shift from the soft pencil sketch to the finished piece with color. The final feather feels so alive, especially with that vibrant center, but the first one has such a quiet beauty too. It’s like you got to experience both the calm of building it and the joy of bringing it to life.

I love peacock feathers. Did you know that peacocks have very loud harsh calls?
Kathy, that’s such a fun detail about peacocks. Their calls can sound like they’re calling for help, which is so surprising when you first hear it. Your drawing has the complete opposite feel, though. It’s soft and quiet, with those light lines and gentle shading creating a really peaceful quality. It almost feels like a calm moment in contrast to all that wild peacock noise, which makes it even more interesting.

Jay, this is such an interesting direction. It feels very fluid and almost hypnotic, like everything is in motion. The layered lines and colors create a lot to explore, and it doesn’t feel tied down to one way of seeing the feather. It looks like you really let yourself play with it, which makes it feel very freeing and expressive.

Marshall, this is such a cool progression. You can really see the impact of switching to ink, those lines feel sharper and more defined, and it gives the feather a completely different energy. The color in the center pops even more against those darker strokes. It feels like you were experimenting and enjoying the process, which is exactly what makes these sessions so rewarding.
Anna, this has such a warm, flowing feel to it. The lines move so smoothly across the page, and the darker center gives it a nice sense of focus. I’m so glad you had a lovely time, it really comes through in how natural and easy this feels.
