PS: Please try to arrive on time so we can have a punctual start.
Brushtime events are amazing. The ambiance and overall experience is very relaxing. I literally do feel the art ease any stresses away that I may have at the beginning of each gathering. Each session is unique and different with the art that is created. I highly recommend this class to fellow beginner or pro creatives. Shivani is an amazing instructor and I'm so grateful she has provided such an experience.

Hello everyone!
We are so excited to welcome you to the Paint Your Stress Away Studio Space!
My name is Shay, and I will be one of your hosts here in the Studio Space. I can’t wait to get to know each of you better, spend some time creating with you, and see the beautiful paintings that emerge from our community.
This space is here for you to share your artwork, reflect on your experience, and connect with others in the community before, during, and after the event. After our workshop, we invite you to post a photo of your painting and tell us a little about your creative process.
If you feel comfortable, we’d also love for you to introduce yourself! You might share what drew you to the workshop, or what kinds of creative activities you enjoy.
There is no pressure here, just a welcoming space to celebrate creativity, unwind, and enjoy the process together.
We’re so happy you’re here and can’t wait to paint with you!

I hope to see some of the OGs from the first painting Brushtime membership!
I always liked art but felt I had no natural talent so I never even tried until I hit my late 30s. Shivani helped me just enjoy the process than focus on the outcome. It has been a good life lesson too 😉
Hi Freny,
not sure if I qualify as an OG as I’ve only been attending the Draw Your Stress Away sessions for about a year now, but I feel the same as you in that I’ve been learning to simply enjoy the process. I don’t stress if it didn’t turn out like I wanted, it just gives me another opportunity to try it again.
Hi Freny! I’m one of the OGs. I like you are excited about having Shivani’s paint classes come back. I have missed this Painting Membership Workshop for a long time.
But I get it, with Shivani having her second child, life began to be a lot more busy, I’m very happy she returned! See you in “class” on Sunday.
I’m super excited to see the PYSA away classes coming back as well and even more excited that those of you who are OGs from the membership community have the chance to reunite! I’m looking forward to getting to know you all! What a great experience this will be!
I’m with you on this Freny! I never believed I was an “artist” until I found Shivani! She does such wonderful things, helping each of us enjoy and life at the same time!

Wasn’t expecting the subject matter But, a great learning experience. Will practice on.some other butterflies.
I have to agree with Patty, your butterfly is stunning! I know you mentioned your surprise at the color mixing results, but the upper brown wing and the lower golden wing ended up being the perfect color combo!
Stephanie, this turned out so lovely! I love that you can see the transparency in the two wings and your color choices are wonderful! Really nice work!!

While I enjoy drawing and art creation, I struggle a bit with using water colors. Shivani, I love the way you taught this lesson! I didn’t feel like I was all thumbs. I am looking forward to doing this exercise again and seeing how I’ve improved! Thank you!!
Well, Patty, I was going to say I struggle with water colors TOO…but based on this picture it doesn’t appear that you struggled at all! This is amazing! The varying shades of purples flow together so smoothly and the little white flecks in the wings add such a sense of sparkle! It thrills me to hear that you didn’t feel “all thumbs” too!

spilled some yellow paint in the background. Tried covering it up. Purple paint seems inconsistent. The wings look red instead of orange. Brown got on yellow background too. Any advice (can it still be fixed?). Am I being a perfectionist? Thank you.
James, you aren’t given yourself enough credit, this is a beautiful butterfly! The one thing I’ve learned about watercolor, is that there is a bit of a learning curve. It’s not like color pens etc. Like Shay suggested, having a bit water on your brush or in your mixed colors may help you with achieving a “looser” look. It does take a little practice but I think you’ll enjoy the journey! 🙂
James, I love that you added yellow to the entire background after the spill. It adds such a happy feeling and bright mood to the entire piece!
I’m learning and evolving myself as a watercolor artist, so I hope some of our group members may be able to offer some insight to your questions as well. Watercolor can definitely have a bit of a mind of its own sometimes.
I wonder if thinning out the purple with more water would help where you are seeing the inconsistencies. Watercolor also tends to work really well in gentle layers, so sometimes letting it dry and adding another light layer can help smooth things out.
All in all, I think you did a great job, and the butterfly really stands out nicely against the bright background. Thank you for sharing your painting with us!
Marshall, this is beautiful! I love the color transitions in the wings, especially how the purple blends into the yellow and green. The blue border with the white dots adds such a nice finishing touch, too.
I’m so glad you joined us for the class. Thank you for sharing your painting!

I enjoyed this workshop. I’m looking forward to more workshops. I miss the first Brushtime memvership.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the workshop, Geraldine! I never attended the first Brushtime memberships but I’ve heard so many positive things about it from you and other members-and it thrills me to see several you here in our first Paint Your Stress Away group! I love your butterfly-the colors you selected are so soothing and spring-like and the gradient on the lower wing is stunning! How did you feel before and after the session?

A lot happier with this one. Still very open to constructive criticism though.
Hi James! I love that you took time to paint a 2nd butterfly! Can you believe I haven’t even had the chance to do one!?
What made you feel happier with this one? Did you find the process easier, more relaxing?
Truthfully, I find both of your pieces beautiful and relaxing to look at. The yellow background on each is cheerful and reminds me of spring. The subtle differences I see in this one seem to be in the gradient-the wings have a smoother transition of color and the gradient is more obvious as you move closer to the body. How did you achieve that this time around?

I love your colors and the inscription.
Did you end up using acrylic or goache for the white speckles? I love the quote too
Hi Freny, I used an acrylic pen for to dots. Thank you!

Wow Marshall! I love the colors you chose for your butterfly and I especially love how they transition one into the next. Very nicely done!
